Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Portland.Wine (“Portland.Wine,” “we,” “us”) about your use of portland.wine and anything we publish there (the “Site”). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.

1. What Portland.Wine is

Portland.Wine is a free, independent directory of tasting rooms, wineries, wine bars and wedding venues in Portland, the Willamette Valley and the Columbia Gorge. It helps you find places and compare what they publish about visits, groups and weddings. There are no accounts, subscriptions or fees.

We don’t sell alcohol, and we don’t take reservations, payments or bookings. When you book, buy or ask about a date, you’re dealing directly with the venue, on the venue’s terms. We aren’t a party to that arrangement.

2. Who it’s for

The Site is meant for adults of legal drinking age, which is 21 in the United States. It isn’t directed to children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

3. Listings are a starting point, not a promise

We build each listing from the venue’s own website or official booking page, and we show where each fact came from and when we checked it. Venues change hours, prices, group rules and capacities all the time, though, and we can miss things or get them wrong. A listing doesn’t mean a venue has space for your group or your date, or that it suits your plans.

Please confirm anything that matters with the venue before you go, book or sign anything. You’re responsible for the decisions you make using the Site. Nothing here is legal, financial or professional advice. See How we verify for how we source and label facts.

4. Drink responsibly

Wine country involves driving. Please plan a sober driver, a tour or a car service, and follow Oregon law and each venue’s own rules. Distances on the Site are straight-line miles, not driving routes or travel times.

5. What you send us

You can send us messages, venue suggestions and corrections through our forms. You keep ownership of what you write. By sending it, you give us permission to use, edit and publish it as part of running and improving the Site, for example by adding a venue you suggested or fixing a fact you flagged. We don’t have to publish anything you send, and we’ll still check the venue’s own pages before we change a listing.

Please send only what’s accurate and yours to share. Don’t send anything unlawful, misleading, abusive or anyone else’s private information. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle form submissions.

6. Fair use of the Site

You’re welcome to browse, save a shortlist, share links and print pages for your own planning. Please don’t:

• use the Site for anything unlawful or fraudulent;
• scrape, bulk-download or republish our listings or data, or build a competing directory from them;
• try to break, overload or get around the Site’s security, rate limits or spam protection;
• flood our forms or use them to send spam or advertising;
• pass off the Site or its content as your own, or suggest a venue or anyone else endorses you through us.

We may block access for anyone who does these things.

7. Google Maps

The Site includes Google Maps features and content. Your use of Google Maps features and content is subject to the current versions of the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service (opens in a new tab) and the Google Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab). If you misuse the map features, we may suspend or end your access to them or to the Site. Map data, imagery and marks belong to Google and its licensors. Our venue facts come from the venues’ own sites, not from Google.

8. Other sites

Listings link to venue websites, booking pages and other services we don’t control. We aren’t responsible for their content, prices, availability, policies or privacy practices. Their terms apply when you use them.

9. Our content

The Site’s design, text, illustrations, photos, logo and the way we organize and present listings belong to Portland.Wine or the people who licensed them to us, and are protected by copyright and trademark law. Venue names and marks belong to their owners. Quoting a sentence or two with a link back is fine. For anything more, ask us first through the contact form.

If you think something on the Site infringes your rights, tell us through the contact form with enough detail to find it, and we’ll look into it promptly.

10. Disclaimer

The Site is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise the Site will always be available or free of errors.

11. Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Portland.Wine won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost money, plans, data or opportunities, arising from your use of the Site. That includes anything that happens at a venue, and decisions you make relying on a listing. Our total liability for any claim about the Site is limited to $50. Some places don’t allow these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

12. Indemnity

If someone brings a claim against us because of something you sent us, your misuse of the Site, or your breach of these Terms or the law, you agree to cover the reasonable costs that result, to the extent the law allows.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about the Site will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Multnomah County, Oregon, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction. Before going that route, please reach out through the contact form. Most things can be sorted out with a message.

14. Changes and the rest

We may update these Terms as the Site changes. When we do, we’ll change the effective date at the top of this page, and material changes will apply from that date going forward. If you keep using the Site after that, the updated Terms apply. If any part of these Terms can’t be enforced, the rest still stands. If we don’t enforce something right away, we haven’t given up the right to later.
